The Landmark London Wedding Photographer
A Victorian railway hotel with an eight-storey glass Winter Garden in the middle. I know which room has which light, and that's most of the job here.
The Landmark is two hotels in one building. A Victorian railway hotel on Marylebone Road, and a glass-roofed Winter Garden with palm trees in the middle of it.
It opened in 1899 as the Hotel Great Central, opposite Marylebone station. Then there are the ballrooms, all chandeliers and cream and gold. The light changes completely from one room to the next, so knowing which is which before the day starts matters.

Marylebone is my patch
My studio is a few minutes' walk away, and I photograph more weddings in Marylebone than anywhere else.
I've photographed weddings at The Landmark, and a lot of couples marry at Old Marylebone Town Hall first and walk along the road to the hotel afterwards. I know the entrance, the Winter Garden and the quiet streets nearby for portraits.
On the day I work quietly. I don't move guests around or stop things to fix the light. The one part I direct is the portraits, and those are quick.
BarrieThe rooms at The Landmark
The hotel says all of its banqueting rooms are licensed for ceremonies, with space for up to around 500 guests.

The Grand Ballroom
Chandeliers, high ceilings, cream and gold. It's a room for evening light rather than daylight, so the uplighting and flowers your planner brings in shape the photographs. I always take wide frames of the room before guests come in.

The smaller rooms
Rooms such as the Empire Room and the Drawing Room, all licensed for ceremonies. That makes the hotel work for anything from a small wedding to a very large one, and the corridors and staircases give you somewhere to go for portraits in any weather.
The Winter Garden is the heart of the hotel: a restaurant and bar under an eight-storey glass atrium, with palm trees up the middle. It's the brightest space in the building by a long way, the easy place for relaxed portraits and drinks, and it still looks good after dark.

Khilan and Pia, town hall to The Landmark
A ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall, confetti on the steps, then along Marylebone Road to The Landmark for portraits under the portico and in the Winter Garden. It's a lovely way to do a London wedding.

Where to take portraits near The Landmark
You don't need to go far. Fifteen or twenty minutes at a time that suits you, and you're back with your guests before anyone notices you'd gone.
- The Winter GardenSoft daylight from above, palms, and the champagne bar. The easiest portraits in the building.
- The front entranceTerracotta columns and the iron canopy on Marylebone Road. Best when the pavement is quiet.
- Regent's ParkA few minutes' walk north, for trees, lawns and the rose garden in summer.
- Marylebone's side streetsGeorgian terraces and quiet mews, a short walk south towards the High Street.

How I photograph a Landmark wedding
A big building with very different light in each room. A bit of planning makes the day feel easy.
Two kinds of light
Drinks in the Winter Garden and dinner in a ballroom means moving from daylight to evening lighting. I plan portraits for while you're still in the bright part of the building.
Guests spread out
People drift between the Winter Garden, the bars and the ballrooms. For a large guest list, a second photographer means nothing gets missed while I'm with the two of you.
Every kind of wedding
The hotel offers kosher and South Asian menus and works with vendors for Indian ceremonies. Send me your running order early, so I know what's coming and where to stand.

The Landmark wedding questions
Is The Landmark London licensed for wedding ceremonies?
Yes. The hotel says all of its banqueting rooms are licensed for wedding ceremonies, so you can marry and celebrate in the same building.
How many guests can The Landmark hold for a wedding?
Up to around 500 guests for a ceremony or a seated dinner, with smaller rooms such as the Empire Room and the Drawing Room for more intimate weddings.
Where are the best places for photos at The Landmark?
The Winter Garden for soft daylight under the glass atrium, the terracotta entrance on Marylebone Road, Regent's Park a few minutes' walk north, and the Georgian streets and mews of Marylebone.
Can we marry at Old Marylebone Town Hall and celebrate at The Landmark?
Yes. It's a short walk along Marylebone Road, and it works well: a register office ceremony, confetti on the town hall steps, then drinks at The Landmark.
Do we need a second photographer?
For a large guest list it's worth considering, because guests spread across the Winter Garden and the ballrooms. A second photographer is an optional £1,250.
How much does a Landmark wedding photographer cost?
My collections are £1,350 for five hours, £1,800 for eight and £2,200 for eleven, with every image edited. Galleries come back within 24 hours for smaller weddings and within a week for a full day.
