Wedding Photographer London
I'm a London wedding photographer with twenty years behind the lens — luxury, editorial and documentary wedding photography across London, Sussex and worldwide. Cinematic light, quiet presence, images made to stop you in your tracks.
Updated · May 2026I'm Barrie — a wedding photographer in London with a studio in Marylebone, a home in Sussex, and twenty years of weddings behind me. From Claridge's ballrooms to Goodwood estates, private villas in Tuscany and black-sand beaches in Iceland.
My work sits where editorial meets documentary — cinematic, light-driven, a little bit bold. Couples come to me for the wow factor, and stay for the fact that I'll find it without ever staging their day. BBC News covered the work in a feature segment. Brides Magazine, the Evening Standard, Love My Dress and Rock My Wedding have all run it. Ranked among the top fifty wedding photographers worldwide.
Twenty years as a London wedding photographer
Light, people, timing — in that order, most days.
I've photographed weddings at some of London's most beautiful venues — Claridge's, The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Landmark, Marylebone Old Town Hall, The Ned, The Langham, Spencer House, Two Temple Place — and some of the finest estates in Sussex, from Goodwood House to Southend Barns. The venues change. The approach doesn't: find the best light in the room, notice the moments nobody else is watching, and make pictures that feel like the day you actually had.
I'm editorial when you need me to be — fifteen, maybe twenty minutes of considered creative direction for the portraits — and documentary the rest of the time. Quiet throughout. You won't hear me barking instructions at your auntie. The gallery you'll receive is honest enough to hold every real moment, and beautiful enough to stop someone scrolling.
— BarrieIconic London venues I've photographed
Twenty years of London weddings means almost every iconic venue in the city is somewhere in the gallery. A short list of where I'm asked to shoot most often — each one a venue I know intimately, from the light at the ceremony aisle to the corner where the best portrait of the night is hiding.
Claridge's
The grand dame of Mayfair luxury weddings — Art Deco glass, dripping chandeliers, and one of the most photogenic ballrooms in London.
The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park
Modern luxury overlooking Hyde Park. The Rosebery Ballroom, the spa suites for getting-ready coverage, and the famous park-facing terrace.
The Landmark London
The eight-storey Winter Garden atrium under a glass roof — one of the most cinematic ceremony backdrops anywhere in the city.
Marylebone Old Town Hall
The classic London register-office wedding venue — Edwardian grandeur, that famous staircase, and the heart of my own neighbourhood.
The Ned
Verde marble columns, the old Midland Bank vault, and rooftop views over the City. A favourite for editorial-leaning London weddings.
Stationers' Hall
Tucked beside St Paul's — a 17th-century livery hall with stained-glass windows, oak panelling and a courtyard you'd swear was in Florence.
The Langham
Five-star Marylebone heritage — the Palm Court, the Grand Ballroom, and a discreet getting-ready set-up that feels miles from the city.
The Connaught
Mayfair restraint, all panelled walls and Tadao Ando water gardens. A favourite for intimate luxury weddings and elopement coverage.
Spencer House
The last remaining 18th-century aristocratic palace in London — gilded state rooms, formal gardens, and quiet Mayfair grandeur.
Two Temple Place
A neo-Gothic Astor mansion on the Thames — stained-glass ceilings, carved oak, and a riverside terrace at golden hour.
ICA & The Mall
Contemporary art-space ceremonies a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace — modern, editorial, and steeped in Mayfair history.
St Pancras Renaissance
The Gothic-revival hotel above the station — that staircase, the Booking Office bar, and the most cinematic London skyline at dusk.
Asia House
A Grade II Marylebone townhouse, popular with East Asian and South Asian couples for the intimate scale and decorative restraint.
RIBA at 66 Portland Place
Art Deco architecture, the Florence Hall, and a sense of editorial calm that suits the design-conscious couple.
The Savoy
The Lancaster Ballroom and the famous Savoy entrance on the Strand — old-Hollywood London glamour at its very purest.
Old Marylebone Town Hall
A short walk from my Marylebone studio — the smaller ceremony rooms, the famous register-office portico, and quiet mews behind it.

Featured London weddings
A few weddings from the recent diary — the kind of London days I love most.
A 17th-century livery hall wedding
Stained glass, oak panelling and an Italianate courtyard tucked beside St Paul's — a London wedding that feels properly cinematic from the first frame.

A modern Mayfair luxury wedding
First dance in the Rosebery Ballroom, golden-hour portraits over Hyde Park, and the kind of editorial coverage couples specifically fly in for.

An intimate Marylebone ceremony
That famous Edwardian staircase, a short walk to the mews behind Wimpole Street for portraits, and a London wedding scaled down to its most beautiful essentials.

A lot of my pre-wedding work is for couples travelling in from across Asia — Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Japan and Korea — who fly in for a few days and want their engagement photographed somewhere that feels nothing like home.
This isn't a gentle country walk. It's a full editorial shoot — styled, creative-directed, and shaped around you and the city. Dramatic light, unexpected angles, the kind of frames that look like film stills. Couples come to me for the creative style, and for a photographer who knows how to move a shoot around London, Paris, the Amalfi Coast, Iceland, or wherever you want the story set.
Low-key on the day, cinematic in the gallery
The three things I care about most — and the promise I make to every couple who books me as their London wedding photographer.
Light, always
Most of what people call "wow factor" is really just light, caught at the right second. I'll read your venue in the first ten minutes and shape the whole day around the moments when it's at its most beautiful.
Creative direction, without the fuss
For the portraits — fifteen minutes, maybe twenty — I'll step into an editorial gear. Composition, styling, the cinematic angle. For the rest of the day I disappear completely. You'll have your wedding, not a photo shoot.
A gallery built to last
Honest enough to hold every real moment, beautiful enough to stop someone scrolling. Sneak peek within a week, full gallery within six. No upsells, no forced album calls, no pressure.

London wedding photography FAQ
The questions couples ask me most often on the first call — answered the way I'd answer them, not the way a brochure would.
How much does a London wedding photographer cost?
Full-day London wedding photography with me starts from £2,800 and is typically booked between £3,200 and £4,500 for ten to twelve hours of coverage including the full edited gallery. Luxury full-weekend coverage and destination weddings are quoted on enquiry. Pre-wedding shoots start from £850. Every package includes the full edited gallery within six weeks, with full download rights and no watermarks.
How far in advance should I book a wedding photographer?
Twelve to eighteen months in advance is ideal for peak Saturdays between May and September. Off-season weekdays and winter weddings can usually be booked closer to the date. A handful of last-minute slots open up each year — always worth asking, even at short notice.
Which London venues do you photograph at most?
Most frequently: Claridge's, The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Landmark London, Marylebone Old Town Hall, Stationers' Hall, The Ned, The Langham, The Connaught, Spencer House, Two Temple Place, ICA, Asia House, RIBA and St Pancras Renaissance. Twenty years of London weddings means almost every iconic venue in the city is somewhere in the gallery.
Do you photograph weddings outside London?
Yes — Sussex country estates (Goodwood House, Southend Barns, private estates), the wider South East, and destination weddings across Europe and worldwide. Roughly a third of the weddings I shoot each year are outside London. See the destination portfolio →
What is your wedding photography style?
Editorial meets documentary. Cinematic, light-driven portraits during the formal moments — fifteen to twenty minutes of considered creative direction — and unobtrusive documentary coverage for the rest of the day. The aim is wow-factor portraits sat alongside honest, real moments of your wedding.
How long until we get our wedding photos?
A sneak-peek gallery of around 30 images within one week of the wedding. The full edited gallery — every keeper, fully retouched in my signature style — is delivered within six weeks via a private online gallery with full download rights and no watermarks.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes — full public liability and professional indemnity insurance, as required by every major London wedding venue. Certificates are available on request and supplied directly to your venue if needed.
Do you photograph small weddings, elopements and weekday weddings?
Yes — intimate weddings, elopements and weekday weddings are some of my favourite shoots. Marylebone Old Town Hall, Old Marylebone Town Hall, Chelsea Old Town Hall and Mayfair Library are regularly photographed. Smaller weddings often get the most beautiful galleries — fewer guests, more space for the moments that matter.
