An Intimate Wedding at The Savoy Hotel London | Farzana & Benedict
A luxury London wedding at an icon of hospitality
Some venues have a reputation that precedes them — and The Savoy Hotel in London is one of them. A true icon of British luxury, it’s hosted royalty, film stars, heads of state and countless glittering celebrations since the late 1800s. So when Farzana and Benedict chose it for their intimate wedding, the bar was set very high from the start. Happily, the day more than lived up to the surroundings.
As a London wedding photographer with plenty of experience shooting in luxury hotels, I knew we were in for something special. Here are just a few of the images from their beautiful day.
The setting: The Savoy Hotel, Strand
The Savoy is one of those rare venues where every corner tells a story. Art Deco detailing, marble floors, grand staircases, polished brass, chandeliers, and the quiet hum of one of the most professional hospitality teams in the world — it’s a wedding photographer’s dream. For an intimate wedding in central London, it strikes the perfect balance between grandeur and warmth.
The bride: Farzana in Jenny Packham
Farzana looked absolutely beautiful in an elegant Jenny Packham wedding gown — a designer who seems made for a venue like The Savoy. The dress had that effortless old-Hollywood glamour: soft, flowing, beautifully detailed, and perfectly suited to the art deco backdrop. Every bridal portrait we took felt like it belonged in a magazine.
The groom: Benedict in a classic three-piece
Benedict wore a traditional three-piece suit with a red tie — timeless, confident, and a lovely counterpoint to Farzana’s bridal look. It’s always nice to photograph a groom who’s gone for something classic; those images never date, and they sit beautifully alongside the venue’s heritage feel.
The ceremony: Princess Ida and Patience Room
Farzana and Benedict’s ceremony took place in the delightfully named Princess Ida and Patience Room — one of the Savoy’s charming Gilbert & Sullivan themed private rooms. Intimate, elegant, and full of light, it’s a wonderful space for a small wedding, and the atmosphere was warm and unhurried from the very first moment. Vows, rings, the first kiss as husband and wife — all the moments you want to bottle — captured exactly as they happened.
The wedding breakfast: Pinafore Room
After the ceremony, guests moved seamlessly next door into the Pinafore Room for the wedding breakfast. It’s a beautiful space — intimate enough that every guest feels part of the celebration, but grand enough to feel properly special — and with The Savoy’s legendary kitchen serving the food, you already know the meal is going to be extraordinary.
Entertainment by Simon Reece
Music can make or break the atmosphere at an intimate wedding, and Farzana and Benedict had it exactly right. Simon Reece, the talented wedding singer, provided live entertainment throughout the day — setting the perfect tone during drinks, lifting the mood between courses, and keeping the energy up into the evening. A superb choice, and I’d happily recommend him to any couple planning a London luxury wedding.
Impeccable hospitality from Sarah Koopman and the Savoy team
A huge mention has to go to Sarah Koopman and her team at The Savoy. The service throughout the day was exactly what you’d hope for at a venue of this calibre — attentive without being intrusive, professional without being stiff, and full of genuine warmth. Every guest was looked after impeccably from the moment they arrived, which meant Farzana and Benedict could simply relax and enjoy their own wedding.
That, really, is the hallmark of a great luxury wedding venue: you don’t notice the work going on behind the scenes, because it’s done so beautifully.
