Edward and Tolu’s wedding in Notting Hill and Sopwell House Hotel

Sep 21, 2008 | weddings London

On Saturday we had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Edward and Tolu. The ceremony took place at the Kensington Temple with some fantastic special songs for the couple. After the ceremony everyone went off to Sopwell House Hotel at St Albans for the reception. Being an African wedding there was a riot of colour in the guests outfits which was great for photography. Edward and Tolu changed three times during the day finishing off in stunning African dress. The party was still in full swing when we left just before midnight and it was clearly a very enjoyable day!

About Notting Hill and Sopwell House Hotel

Notting Hill and Sopwell House Hotel combines the polish of a dedicated hotel wedding venue with the warmth of somewhere that functions as a hotel day in, day out. Rooms for guests to stay over, bar service that doesn’t miss a beat and reception spaces that have seen enough weddings to run smoothly.

I find hotel weddings reward a subtle approach. The architecture and interiors do a lot of the heavy lifting, so the photography can focus on the people rather than the venue. That usually means tighter framing and more reportage than you’d shoot in a country house.
