Boxgrove Priory and Farbridge wedding photography

Jul 21, 2013 | Wedding Photographers London

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Gemma and Phil.  I met the girls at The Ship Hotel in Chichester for the final bits of preparation, which was great fun if a little cosy with Gemma and her five Bridesmaids all getting ready in the one room!  I left the girls to go and meet Phil at the historic Boxgrove Priory – the couple are both Architects and so the venue was very important to them.  Phil was a very calm groom and we took some photos of him and his brother, Stephen before Gemma arrived looking stunning!  Father Iain, the priest at Boxgrove is one of the friendliest and most accommodating priests I have ever worked with and as such I was able to get some lovely images of the ceremony in the Priory, which is a beautiful building.

After the ceremony, Gemma and Phil were keen to go to the Priory ruins for some photographs together and then we went up to the Trundle at Goodwood for some photographs with their vintage Bentley Car before heading down the hill to Farbridge for the wedding reception.  The day was perfect with the intense heat being toned down by a lovely breeze and Farbridge looked incredible both inside and out.  As the sun began to go down, we went into the nearby cornfield for some photos in the beautiful golden light, which I am so pleased with.

Speeches were followed by entertainment provide by the band, Penfold who sounded great!  I will remember the day for the lovely people and the very best weather the country has to offer.  Gemma and Phil are off to Malaysia on honeymoon and I wish them the very best for the future.

Wedding photography notes

This wedding was photographed on location in the south of England. Every venue shapes the day in its own way, and the photography is a response to the building, the light and the people in front of me.

The photography of any wedding is a response to the venue, the light and the people in front of me. I work in a documentary style for most of the day and carve out a short portrait session around golden hour, which almost always produces the album’s hero images.
