A Summer Wedding at Claridge’s | Henry & Charlotte’s London Wedding

The much-awaited photos are here

So here they are — the much-awaited images from Henry and Charlotte’s wedding at Claridge’s last week! And what an absolutely perfect British summer’s day they had for it. Blue skies over Mayfair, sunshine streaming through the windows of one of London’s most iconic luxury hotels, and a couple who couldn’t stop smiling from the moment we arrived to the moment the dance floor finally closed.

As a Claridge’s wedding photographer, this was one of those days that reminded us exactly why we love this job.

Bridal prep at Claridge’s, Mayfair

We arrived in London early to join Charlotte and her bridesmaids in their suite at Claridge’s for the final flurry of preparations. Henry’s mum Sylvia was there too, and the room was full of the best kind of wedding-morning energy — laughter, champagne, nervous giggles, last-minute hair pins, and that lovely sense of occasion that only builds as the morning goes on.

Claridge’s is a dream for bridal prep. Beautiful natural light, elegant interiors, space for everyone to spread out, and the kind of discreet, professional service that means the only thing Charlotte had to think about was enjoying her morning.

The groom’s side: nerves and a steadying drink in Hampstead

Meanwhile, Barrie headed over to meet Henry and the groomsmen near the church in Hampstead, where they were enjoying a very traditional British pre-wedding ritual — a quick, nerve-calming drink before the ceremony. There’s always a brilliant mood amongst the men on a wedding morning: a bit of banter, a bit of last-minute reassurance, and always a photograph or two that end up being amongst the groom’s favourites from the day.

A very personal church ceremony

The ceremony took place at a beautiful Hampstead church and was conducted by a close friend of the couple — someone who actually works with Charlotte. When a family member or close friend officiates a wedding, it adds a depth to the words and vows that you just can’t manufacture. Every sentence carried weight. Every look between the two of them meant something.

And as for Charlotte? She was quite possibly the most excited bride we have ever seen walking up the aisle. She didn’t stop smiling once — through the vows, the rings, the readings, the kiss. Pure, unfiltered joy from start to finish.

Back to Claridge’s by traditional London bus

Once the ceremony was over, the guests were whisked back to Claridge’s in proper style — on two traditional London buses, adding a lovely nostalgic touch to the day. If you’re planning a London wedding and want to give your guests a journey they’ll actually remember, vintage London transport is hard to beat. It’s also a wonderful photo opportunity.

Drinks, canapés and group shots at Claridge’s

Back at Claridge’s, the guests enjoyed drinks and some truly exceptional canapés while we moved through the group photos. We’re big believers that these shouldn’t feel like a chore — they’re some of the most important images from the day, the ones family members treasure for decades afterwards — so we always keep them moving, keep them fun, and keep them relaxed.

Signature couple portraits at Claridge’s

Of course, we stole Charlotte and Henry away a few times during the reception for a set of our signature couple portraits. One of our favourites is a shot at the front of Claridge’s itself — where the doorman (a brilliant sport) happily joined in for a frame or two. Those little unplanned moments are so often the images couples end up loving most.

There’s a reason Claridge’s is one of London’s most photographed wedding venues: the facade, the lobby, the art deco detailing, the famous entrance canopy — it all photographs beautifully, and you don’t need to leave the building for an editorial-worthy set of portraits.

A beautiful wedding breakfast (and a samurai sword cake cut!)

The meal served inside was genuinely wonderful — and we can say that with confidence, because Henry and Charlotte very kindly arranged for us to be served the main course ourselves (something we never expect, and always hugely appreciate when it happens).

After the meal came the speeches — sincere, heartfelt, and with plenty of brilliantly timed laughs — before Charlotte and Henry moved on to what was probably the most memorable cake cut we’ve ever photographed. Forget the standard little silver knife: they cut their wedding cake with a very long Samurai sword. Perfectly executed, and a detail none of their guests will ever forget.

First dance and into the night

Finally, Charlotte and Henry took to the floor for their first dance in front of family and friends, before the real party kicked off — and it properly kicked off. The dance floor filled quickly, the energy lifted, and the celebration went long into the London evening.

Honeymoon goals: Bali

Next on the agenda for the newlyweds: a honeymoon in Bali. Beaches, temples, sunsets and a well-earned rest after one of the most fun, elegant, joyful weddings we’ve been part of. We can’t wait to catch up with Henry and Charlotte when they’re home.

It was my privilege and an honour to be invited to photograph the wedding of Henry and Charlotte at Claridge’s Hotel. From the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be no ordinary wedding. The grand marble foyer and sweeping staircase were the perfect backdrops for this special day.

The bride looked absolutely stunning in a classic white gown with beautiful lace detailing. The groom looked dashing in his morning suit, complete with a top hat and tails. Guests were dressed elegantly and it was clear that everyone had made an effort to look their best.

The ballrooms looked fabulous decorated with luxurious floral arrangements, crystal chandeliers and shimmering fabrics. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as love filled the room. Every time they locked eyes while exchanging their vows it was like time stood still – it felt so magical!

The rest of the evening flitted by in a whirlwind of excitement – laughter, good food, beautiful music, dancing and fun photo opportunities! It is safe to say that this wedding truly embodied everything that makes a wedding special – strong bonds of love, fantastic memories for everyone involved and undeniable joy made for some incredible photographs!

Claridge’s London is a legendary hotel that holds a long and fascinating history with couples getting married there. Dating back to the late 19th century, Claridge’s has always been known for its grandeur and opulence – making it the perfect place to host a luxurious wedding. From the elegant ballroom that requires no decor, to the lavish suites available to rent, they have all been carefully preserved over time. Many of the fixtures and furniture in these rooms has even been curated since the late 1800s when Claridge’s first opened its doors.

The iconic Hotel certainly left an impression on some of the most famous celebrities too! In 1955 actress Audrey Hepburn married actor Mel Ferrer at Claridge’s – proving it was more than just a regular venue! In recent years, these walls have seen nuptials from British royalty and other notables like The Duchess of Cambridge, who wore Alexander McQueen at her Sister Pippa Middleton’s 2011 wedding. Claridge’s has earned its reputation as one of the top destination venues for weddings and continues to be one of London’s most exclusive choices.

As such, only those so lucky can call it home for their special day – allowing couples to make their own piece of history in this gorgeous building!

Mayfair also has an array of excellent photographers on offer if you want to capture all those special moments throughout the day – from candid photos with family and friends outside of Claridge’s to classic shots taken by The Royal Parks along Hyde Park Corner. Not only will you get amazing pictures that you can treasure forever, but they’ll also be great reminders of your lovely wedding day! You may even decide to travel across town for an after-party in one of Mayfair’s vibrant clubs.

About Claridge’s

Claridge’s is a London institution. The Mayfair hotel’s art deco interiors, sweeping marble staircase and private dining rooms have made it one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the capital for more than a century. Every ceremony here carries the polish of a hotel that has been quietly perfecting hospitality since 1812.

I find hotel weddings reward a subtle approach. The architecture and interiors do a lot of the heavy lifting, so the photography can focus on the people rather than the venue. That usually means tighter framing and more reportage than you’d shoot in a country house.
