Nicoleta and Alistair were married at Old Marylebone Town Hall yesterday, in the Pimlico Room. Fifteen guests, five of them children, two of those their own boys.
Another lovely autumn day in London, with the soft light October does well. They booked my one hour option, which for a small register office wedding like this is usually all you need.

A few photos before
With an hour, the photos start a little before the ceremony. That’s enough for a look at the room, a few of the flowers and the dress, and a photo of the family together while everyone still looks immaculate.
Worth doing if you have children with you. They’re at their best before the ceremony, not after it.

The Pimlico Room
The Pimlico Room is one of the smaller rooms at Marylebone. Panelled walls, a carved fireplace, a big window, and space for a small group to sit close. With fifteen people it felt full in the right way, and nobody was more than a few feet from the couple.
Small rooms are easy to photograph quietly. I stay at the side, nobody needs to move for me, and the registrar can get on with it.

The staircase
On the way out we stopped on the stairs. The marble staircase and the landings are the best bit of the building inside, and they’re right there between the ceremony rooms and the front door, so it only takes a few minutes.
The tall windows on the landing give you lovely soft light, even on a grey day.

Confetti outside
Then out the front doors and down the steps, with everyone waiting with confetti.
After that, a group photo on the steps. With fifteen guests it’s one photo with everyone in it, then a couple of smaller ones, and done.

The alcove
To finish, a few photos of the two of them in the stone alcove at the front of the building. It’s sheltered, the stone is a lovely neutral colour, and it’s a quiet corner a few steps away from Marylebone Road.
Then they were off to a small reception with their guests, and that was the hour.

Nicoleta and Alistair
Congratulations to you both, and thank you for having me. It was a lovely small wedding, and the boys were great.
