Julie and Tony got married at St Paul’s Cathedral on a Saturday in February 2012, then took everyone across London to the RAF Club on Piccadilly for the reception.
The RAF Club was the right choice. Julie used to fly Hercules transport aircraft for the Royal Air Force.

Inside St Paul’s
St Paul’s is enormous, and most of it is in shadow. The light comes from high windows and lands on that black and white marble floor, which does a lot of the work in the photographs.
In a building this size you don’t need to move people around much. Find where the light is falling and let the space sit around them.

Portraits between the columns
The great doors and columns of the cathedral make a frame you won’t find anywhere else in London. Put the couple small in the middle of it and the scale does the rest.

Everyone together
With a big guest list, the best group photo is one taken from above. Everyone can see the camera, nobody is hidden at the back, and the floor gives you a clean background.

On to the RAF Club
From the cathedral the wedding party went west to the RAF Club at 128 Piccadilly for the reception. The club was founded in 1918, the same year as the RAF, and for Julie it was a very fitting place to celebrate.

Congratulations to you both.
