Alison and Deon’s wedding at Babington House

Jun 25, 2008 | Wedding photographer Sussex

Alison and Deon were married on Thursday at Babington House in Somerset. It was a lovely day with clear skies and a light wind throughout the day – perfect weather for a wedding! The ceremony took place in the small chapel in the grounds of the house followed by a drinks reception on the lawn with a jazz band providing musical entertainment. The meal was followed by some hilarious speeches including one by two of Deon’s three best men and the evening ended with dancing to the brilliant Joe Stilgoe Trio. Alison and Deon are going on honeymoon round Europe ending up in Venice – a very special place for the two of us. We know they will love it!

About Babington House

Babington House is Soho House’s country retreat near Frome in Somerset. The Georgian mansion sits in 18 acres of its own grounds and combines the polish of a boutique hotel with the feel of a private country house — which is exactly why it has become one of the best-known wedding venues in the south-west. Ceremonies usually take place in the walled garden or the chapel, followed by dinner in the house or the hall barn.

Hotel weddings run smoothly in a way that suits how I like to photograph a day — the staff have seen it all before, the rooms are set up for the moves between ceremony, drinks and dinner, and couples can relax into it rather than managing the logistics themselves. That relaxation always shows in the pictures.
