Wiston House wedding photography – Katharine and Rob

Dec 16, 2013 | Wedding photographer Sussex

Yesterday was our last wedding of 2013 and it was the wedding of Katharine and Rob who were married at the Church of St Peter in West Blatchington and then their reception took place at the absolutely beautiful Wiston House. The weather was a long way from that which they had left at home in Australia, they swapped 40 degree heat for fog and drizzle in the UK however this did not dampen their spirits in any way! Katharine looked beautiful in her dress which had travelled from down under (in First Class no less!) and her incredibly sparkly, fabulous shoes.

The ceremony took place just a short distance from Katharine’s parents house and it was lovely singing Christmas Carols during the service. After the ceremony, everyone left for Wiston House in Steyning. This was our first time photographing at the venue and we were very impressed. Despite the poor weather, the house looked really impressive in the fog as we approached. Inside the open fires made it lovely and cosy and guests enjoyed mulled wine and comfy armchairs during the relaxed drinks reception.

The interior of Wiston House is fantastic for photography and Katharine and Rob were brilliant to work with so we were able to get some stunning signature images for them with the help of our magic lightsaber! Katharine and Rob are now spending a couple of weeks with their family and friends in the UK before heading back home to Australia.

About Wiston House

Wiston House is a country house wedding venue in the best English tradition — grand reception rooms, formal gardens and the kind of gravel-drive approach that sets the tone from the moment guests arrive. Couples typically use the main state rooms for the ceremony and dinner, with the grounds opening up space for portraits and evening drinks.

What I love shooting in a venue like this is the range of backdrops within a few minutes’ walk. One set of portraits in the grand formal rooms; a completely different set on the lawns; another in a walled garden or courtyard. The album ends up covering what feels like several very different locations.
