About Hedingham Castle

Hedingham Castle in Essex is one of the best-preserved Norman keeps in England. Built around 1140 by the de Vere family, the 110-foot great tower still dominates the surrounding countryside and is now licensed for wedding ceremonies in the Great Hall. Receptions are held in the tiered gardens and a riverside marquee, with the castle itself serving as a dramatic backdrop throughout the day.

Castles photograph differently at different times of day. Early light hits the stone cool and neutral; late afternoon turns it golden; evening lighting inside creates long shadows and drama. I move through the day with a plan for each of these moments, so the album reflects the full range.
