Destination wedding photographers New York
New York, New York! What a wonderful place to photograph a wedding. As destination wedding photographers in New York and having spent the day with the lovely Layla & Richard for a pre wedding shoot, photographing them around some of New York’s most iconic landmarks the day before, it was time for the wedding day itself which took place at the impressive James Burden Mansion. With its spiral staircase, sculpted ceilings and marble walls, it’s easy to see why it’s regarded as the finest Beaux Art townhouse in New York, situated only a stone’s throw away from Central Park.
We arrived once again at The Plaza Hotel on 5th Avenue at Central Park, to a hive of activity where Layla was underway with her bridal transformation, thanks to the able hands of world renowned celebrity hairstylist and owner of Nexus New York salon Kevin Mancuso and makeup artist to the stars Moyra Mulholland.

As the finishing touches to hair and makeup were applied, it was time for Layla to get into her beautiful Suzanne Neville wedding gown from New York bridal salon Wedding Atelier. As a self confessed Anglophile, Layla loves all things British, the influence of which transcended throughout her wedding from her dress, hair and make up to her carefully selected style of wedding photography – and of course her quintessentially English photographers!

As the wedding was black tie, Layla and Richard asked us if we would dress up for the occasion! So yes, I really did photograph the wedding in this dress with those shoes!

Once ready, Richard headed to Central Park to await a formal ‘first look’ of his bride-to-be. As Layla made her way across to the park shortly after, it was an emotional moment that awaited them both and a beautiful one for us to capture before we left for the wedding ceremony, only a short drive away.

Layla and Richard travelled in style in a white vintage Rolls Royce and arrived to the waiting eyes of the wedding guests and of Layla’s father who despite ill health, movingly stood from his wheelchair to meet his daughter.

Guests made their way up the spiral staircase to the grand marble ceremony room and settled to await the bride’s entrance. The Jewish ceremony was conducted by a good friend of the couple making the service a particularly special one for them both.

As is customary in Jewish tradition, at the end of the ceremony Richard broke a glass, crushing it with his right foot as the guests shouted “Mazel tov!” (meaning “Congratulations!”) before the couple headed back down the aisle to the jubilant cheers and applause of their wedding guests!

The wedding banquet room was the picture of elegance. Set in low welcoming light, each table was dressed with white linen table clothes, white roses, glass stemmed candelabra’s and personalised menus. The top table was decorated with beautiful white orchards and presented with a cosy gold love seat for two.

Following the cutting of the amazing cake, photos in the grounds of James Burden Mansion and an emotional first dance, it was time to truly celebrate with lots of dancing, laughter and amazing entertainment from a fantastic band and singing and trumpet playing from the hugely talented Mr Chris Norton.

Thanks so much to Layla and Richard for choosing us to photograph and celebrate this truly memorable wedding day with them, it is sure to be one we’ll never forget!
