Jack and Kim married at High Rocks, just outside Tunbridge Wells. Kim and her bridesmaids arrived for the ceremony in a white stretch limousine, and with everyone in high spirits, the bride, her cousin and the bridesmaids broke into a completely unplanned lip sync of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic. It was filmed on an iPhone, and it’s below.

Nobody had planned it. It just started, and there was time to get an iPhone out and record the whole thing. Pure wedding comedy gold.

High Rocks
High Rocks is built around an ancient sandstone outcrop, now a scheduled monument, with bridges strung between the rocks and woodland paths running down through it. The venue takes its name from the rocks, and the function rooms are oak-beamed.
It’s not a venue where you photograph the building. You go down into the rocks. Sandstone, moss, high tree cover and the bridges give you something closer to a woodland shoot than a wedding, and the canopy keeps the light soft through the middle of the day.
There’s also a steam railway on the doorstep, with a platform in the grounds.

Planning a High Rocks wedding
- Use the rocks for portraits. The bridges and woodland paths are the reason to book it, and they’re right there.
- Don’t worry about midday light. The tree cover keeps it soft through the middle of the day, which is rare.
- Think about the railway. A steam train pulling into the platform is a good moment for the pictures, especially if there are children at the wedding.
- Leave room for the unplanned. The lip sync wasn’t on any schedule, and it’s the bit worth keeping.
