Verity and Rob’s wedding at St Peter’s Church, Westhampnett and Chichester

May 23, 2010 | Wedding photographer Sussex

I had so much fun at Verity and Rob’s wedding yesterday. The ceremony, which was carried out by the wonderful Reverend Ann Waizneker involved plenty of audience participation including the children playing instruments and a very engaging hymn complete with actions from the guests. After the ceremony, Rob, Verity, Elliot and I all went to the nearby Sculpture park for a brief portrait session. As the sun was so hot, it was pleasant to get into the shade for a while and we got some fun signature images for them. Finally we went back to the reception at Chichester Rugby Club where the party continued outside with bouncy castle and slide and a hog roast. I was made to feel so welcome and I had a really enjoyable day.

About St Peter’s Church, Westhampnett and Chichester

St Peter’s Church, Westhampnett and Chichester is a traditional parish church wedding venue with the quiet formality that comes with a church ceremony. The stone interior, stained-glass windows and peal of bells set the tone before guests move on to the reception nearby.

Shooting inside a parish church calls for a quiet approach — long lenses, minimal movement and respect for the ceremony. The available light is usually soft and the stone and stained glass do a lot of work for you. I rarely use flash inside a church; the natural light gives a much more authentic record of the service.
