Andrea and Peter’s wedding at St Alban’s Abbey and Brocket Hall

May 5, 2008 | Wedding photographer Sussex

On Sunday we were off to St Alban’s for Andrea and Peter’s wedding.  The ceremony was held in  the stunning Lady Chapel of St Alban’s Abbey and we were fortunate to be working with the friendliest priest and Verger we have ever come across which allowed us to get some beautiful photographs during the ceremony.  After the ceremony and some formal photographs outside the Abbey the party went on to the Golf Club at Brocket Hall.  Once again the weather was lovely – warm and dry so we took the opportunity to photograph Peter and Andrea by the beautiful lake.  They were a fantastic couple to photograph and very enthusiastic!  The big surprise of the evening for the guests was a spectacular fireworks display.

About St Alban’s Abbey and Brocket Hall

St Alban’s Abbey and Brocket Hall is a country house wedding venue in the best English tradition — grand reception rooms, formal gardens and the kind of gravel-drive approach that sets the tone from the moment guests arrive. Couples typically use the main state rooms for the ceremony and dinner, with the grounds opening up space for portraits and evening drinks.

Country houses like this one reward a photographer who knows where to find good light. I spend time during the day finding the windows that flood the main rooms with soft, directional light and pairing those with the grounds outside for couple portraits. If the weather turns, interiors this rich stand on their own without needing a blue sky.
