A Treetop Wedding at Kingdom, Kent | Adrian & Charlotte

A traditional church wedding with a modern twist

Adrian and Charlotte’s wedding had all the best ingredients — a traditional church ceremony, a Lamborghini Aventador as the getaway car, and a relaxed reception at one of the most striking venues in Kent. It was the sort of day that perfectly balanced classic wedding elegance with the couple’s own personality and sense of fun.

As a Kent wedding photographer, I loved every minute of documenting this one — from the solemn, beautiful moments at the altar, to the roar of the Lamborghini pulling away, to golden-hour portraits in the Kentish farmland.

The ceremony: tradition, emotion and a touch of grandeur

The day began with a traditional church wedding. There’s something genuinely moving about a church ceremony — the soft light through stained glass, hymns sung by family and friends, and those quiet, timeless moments as the bride walks down the aisle. Charlotte looked stunning, Adrian couldn’t stop smiling, and the whole ceremony had that lovely, heartfelt atmosphere that only a church service can create.

Arriving at Kingdom in a Lamborghini Aventador

Confetti thrown, rings on, registers signed — and then the ultimate wedding day exit. Adrian and Charlotte swept away from the church in his Lamborghini Aventador, which made for some seriously cinematic photographs. If you’re going to leave your wedding ceremony in style, this is the way to do it.

The drive from the church took them through the rolling Kent countryside to their reception venue — Kingdom, near Tonbridge — where their guests were already gathering.

Kingdom, Tonbridge: a treetop wedding venue with 360° views

If you haven’t come across Kingdom before, it’s one of the most unusual and beautiful wedding venues in Kent. A striking wood and glass clubhouse built high up among the trees, it feels part Scandinavian retreat, part countryside hideaway — modern, warm and completely unique.

The open roof deck is the showpiece. Adrian and Charlotte’s guests spent the drinks reception sipping champagne and working their way through some genuinely brilliant canapés, while taking in the 360-degree views across the Weald of Kent. Woodland in every direction, sunshine overhead, and not a bad angle in sight — a wedding photographer’s dream.

While the guests enjoyed the reception, I took Adrian and Charlotte out into the grounds and surrounding farmland for a few couple portraits. With light like that, and countryside that beautiful, we were spoilt for choice.

Wedding breakfast, speeches and dancing into the night

Back inside, everyone sat down to a gorgeous wedding breakfast. The food was fantastic, the speeches were genuinely funny (with a few proper lump-in-the-throat moments too), and the atmosphere stayed warm and relaxed all the way through.

Then the dance floor opened — and that’s when the real fun started. Some wild and crazy dancing went on late into the night, with everyone from the youngest guests to the grandparents joining in. These are always my favourite photos of the day: unguarded, joyful, and completely unposed.

Honeymoon goals: Dubai and the Maldives

There was barely time for the newlyweds to sleep. Adrian and Charlotte were up early the next morning for a flight to Dubai, before jetting on to the Maldives for the honeymoon of most people’s dreams — white sand, turquoise water, overwater villas, the lot.

Not a bad way to start married life.

Why Kingdom is such a special Kent wedding venue

If you’re planning a wedding in Kent and looking for somewhere a little different, Kingdom is well worth a visit. A few reasons I’d recommend it from a photographer’s point of view:

  • Incredible natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass
  • Panoramic views of the Weald of Kent from the roof deck
  • Stunning grounds and surrounding farmland for couple portraits
  • A relaxed, modern feel that works beautifully for guests of all ages
  • Genuinely memorable architecture — every shot looks editorial

About reception in the clubhouse at Kingdom

reception in the clubhouse at Kingdom is the kind of urban wedding venue that tells you, the moment you walk in, that this isn’t going to be a traditional country-house day. Strong architecture, modern interiors and city views set a very different tone.

Urban venues ask for a different approach to photography. Clean architecture rewards strong, graphic composition rather than soft English prettiness. I shoot harder lines and more deliberate framing, and I love what a London skyline does for a couple portrait at dusk.
