Inner Temple Wedding Photographer
Weddings at one of London's four Inns of Court, in the Hall, the Parliament Chamber and the Garden, photographed quietly by someone who knows the Temple well.
Inner Temple sits between Fleet Street and the river, behind old gates most Londoners walk past. It has a great Hall, a large private garden and a quiet you don't get anywhere else in the City.
It is one of the four Inns of Court, the old legal societies of London. The courts and lanes around it see very little traffic, so a wedding here feels calm and unhurried. That comes through in the photographs.

Weddings in the Temple for years
I know how to walk the precinct, where the garden light is good, and how to keep the day moving without rushing you.
I've photographed weddings at Inner Temple of every size, and others in the Temple and the streets around it. I know how long it takes to get from the Hall to the gardens, and how to keep family groups short so you're back with your guests quickly.
On the day I work quietly. Two cameras, one wide for the setting and one long for honest reactions. No barked instructions, no forty-minute group list. I take the two of you away for portraits when the light is right, and the rest of the time you'll forget I'm there. There's more of my work as a London wedding photographer on the home page.
BarrieInner Temple as a wedding venue
Most of the rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies, so the whole day can happen in one place. The venue suggests around 120 guests for a full wedding day, using the Hall and the rooms next to it.
- The HallThe main room, seating up to 276. Wedding breakfasts, bigger ceremonies and the evening. High windows in the day, candlelight at night.
- The Parliament ChamberSeats up to 154. The usual choice for a more intimate ceremony.
- The Luncheon Room and Drawing RoomUp to 70 and 56 seated. Good for drinks, a smaller wedding, or a quiet room for the two of you.
- The Garden and PavilionOutdoor ceremonies and receptions in the summer season, with the Pavilion seating up to 200.
Capacities are the venue's own figures, and your coordinator will confirm what works for your date and numbers. If you're still choosing, my London wedding venues page covers the others I know well, including Two Temple Place, a few minutes' walk along the Embankment.
Where to take portraits at Inner Temple
Fifteen or twenty minutes when the light is right, and you're back with your guests before anyone notices you'd gone. The venue does most of the work.
- The gardensProper outdoor portraits without leaving the venue. Best in late afternoon, and in summer the evening light is hard to beat.
- The courts and lanesOld stone, archways and doorways. One portrait against a single doorway and the picture is done.
- Inside the HallA few frames with real architecture behind you, and a good place to photograph the room set up before guests arrive. If it rains, we stay indoors.
- The first lookIf you're open to it, ten minutes in the gardens before the ceremony, just the two of you. It takes the pressure off a tight schedule.
Send me your family groups beforehand and we'll do the formal ones in about twenty minutes. Nothing performative.

Chetna and Rakesh, an Indian wedding in the Temple
Middle Temple shares the Temple precinct with Inner Temple, so the courts, gardens and church are the same walk for portraits. Chetna and Rakesh married outside in the gardens, had an Indian feast in Middle Temple Hall, and finished on a packed dance floor.

Two weddings, very different days
A large Asian wedding. The procession came through the front courtyard with the band ahead of the groom, the ceremony was set up in the Parliament Chamber with the families either side, and the wedding breakfast filled the Hall. The challenge was pace. Asian wedding days run long, and the colour of the attire against the panelled walls needed keeping without losing either. It's one of the strongest sets of London work I've shot.
A small autumn wedding. About twenty guests, an early-afternoon ceremony in the Parliament Chamber, drinks in the Luncheon Room and a long, late portrait session through the gardens as the leaves were turning. Quiet, slow, no schedule pressure.
Inner Temple works as well for twenty as for two hundred. If you're planning a wedding here, send me your date. I'm happy to meet at the venue and show you recent galleries.

The small things that make the day
The rings, the dress on its hanger, the quiet minutes before the ceremony. I photograph these in natural light before the day speeds up.

The first frame is from Inner Temple. The rest are from other weddings I've photographed in the same corner of London.
How an Inner Temple wedding usually runs
Every wedding is different, but most London days follow a rhythm I know well. This is roughly how it goes from where I'm standing.
Morning, getting ready
I start with you, wherever you're getting ready. Natural light, the dress, the rings, and the moment someone close to you sees you ready for the first time.
Arrivals and the ceremony
I get to the Temple ahead of the groom and work quietly from the sides during the ceremony. For a procession I plan the route with you beforehand.
Drinks and portraits
Drinks, then fifteen or twenty minutes with the two of you in the gardens and lanes. Family groups come from a list you send me and take about twenty minutes.
Dinner and the evening
Speeches from a distance on a longer lens, so the reactions are real. Candlelight and available light in the Hall, with a little flash only where it helps.

Inner Temple wedding questions
Where is Inner Temple and how do guests get there?
Inner Temple is one of the four Inns of Court, on Crown Office Row in the Temple, between Fleet Street and the Thames Embankment (London EC4Y 7HL). Temple tube station is a few minutes' walk away and Blackfriars is close too. Most guests arrive on foot, so it's worth putting the route in your invitations.
How many guests can Inner Temple hold for a wedding?
The venue suggests around 120 guests for a full wedding day. The Hall seats up to 276, the Parliament Chamber up to 154, and the first floor takes up to 600 for a standing reception. Smaller weddings work well in the Luncheon Room or Drawing Room.
Have you photographed weddings at Inner Temple?
Yes. They range from a small autumn wedding of about twenty guests in the Parliament Chamber to a large Asian wedding with a full procession and a wedding breakfast in the Hall. I also know the neighbouring Temple precinct well from other weddings, including Middle Temple.
Where are the best places for photos at Inner Temple?
The Inner Temple Garden, a large private garden in the middle of the City, is the obvious start. After that it's the courts and lanes of the Temple, which are old, quiet and photograph well in any light. Inside, the Hall gives you proper architecture for a few frames. I'll plan the route with you once I know your date and timings.
How much does an Inner Temple wedding photographer cost?
My London collections are £1,350 for five hours, £1,800 for eight and £2,200 for eleven, with every image edited. A second photographer is an optional £1,250. The full details are on my wedding prices page.
Do you photograph Asian and multi-day weddings at Inner Temple?
Yes. Asian wedding days run longer and have a different rhythm to a typical civil ceremony, so I plan around the procession, the rituals and the family portraits, and keep the photography light enough that nothing is disrupted. There's more on my Asian wedding photographer London page.
What happens if it rains?
Inner Temple handles rain well. The Hall, the Parliament Chamber and the smaller rooms all photograph beautifully, so we move indoors or keep the outdoor portraits short. I'll talk through a wet-weather plan with you and your venue coordinator before the day, so there are no surprises.
When will we get our photos?
Within a week for a full wedding day, in a private online gallery with high-resolution downloads and no watermarks.
