Charlotte Hawkins Joins Good Morning Britain — And a Look Back at Photographing Her Over the Years
Exciting news for a familiar face
Huge congratulations to Charlotte Hawkins, who has joined the line-up of ITV’s brand new breakfast programme Good Morning Britain. It’s fantastic to see such a warm, professional broadcaster step into a flagship national role, and I’ll be cheering her on from the sofa every morning.
Charlotte’s career has gone from strength to strength over the years — Sky News, Classic FM, and now the Good Morning Britain sofa — and it feels like a completely natural next step for one of the most personable presenters on British television.
A few years of photographing Charlotte
What makes this news particularly lovely from my point of view is that I’ve had the real privilege of photographing Charlotte Hawkins a number of times over the years. Every occasion has been an absolute pleasure — she’s one of those people who is exactly as warm, friendly and easy-going off camera as she is on it.
First meetings: bridesmaid at friends’ weddings
Our paths first crossed at a friend’s wedding, where Charlotte was one of the bridesmaids. Then, not long after, I photographed another of her friend’s weddings — where she was once again a bridesmaid. Even amongst two beautiful bridal parties, Charlotte was a natural in front of the camera: poised, confident, and genuinely lovely to work with. She was so pleased with both sets of photographs that she said when her own wedding day came around, she’d like me to be her photographer.
Promotional shoots for television
Alongside those weddings, I’ve photographed Charlotte for a number of promotional shoots for TV over the years — the kind of polished, editorial imagery that broadcasters need for press, publicity and agency portfolios. It’s a very different discipline from wedding photography, but Charlotte made every session effortless. Every frame worked.
Her wedding to Mark Herbert at Chichester Cathedral & Farbridge
And then came the big one — photographing Charlotte’s wedding to Mark Herbert at Chichester Cathedral, followed by their reception at the beautiful Farbridge wedding venue in West Sussex. It was a stunning, deeply personal day — the ceremony was led by Charlotte’s uncle, fellow presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsfordwere amongst the guests, and the day ran from the grandeur of the Cathedral and its cloisters to the relaxed barn charm of Farbridge.

From Chichester Cathedral to the breakfast sofa
What I’ve always loved about photographing Charlotte — whether on a promotional shoot, at one of her friends’ weddings, or at her own wedding to Mark — is how genuine she is. That warmth and sincerity are exactly what make her such a natural fit for breakfast television: they come straight through the screen.
She’ll be a brilliant addition to the Good Morning Britain team, and I wish Charlotte and the whole line-up every success with the launch.
