Australian wedding photography – Kiri and Jamie

Apr 7, 2014 | destination weddings

We have know Kiri since she was just 15 and working at Goodwood and since we first met her, she has wanted Barrie to photograph her wedding.  Kiri emigrated some years ago, and it was a brilliant surprise to get a message from her last October inviting Barrie to her wedding to Jamie in Australia!  It is always fun to photograph weddings for friends and especially somewhere as incredible as Palm Beach, which is where their wedding took place.

Kiri and her bridesmaids arrived at the wedding in a seaplane, which was certainly a first and she looked amazing in her wedding dress by Henry Roth.  A unique touch, which we have not seen before was that Kiri asked her close female friends to bring one flower to the wedding and then during the ceremony, Kristy, one of the Bridesmaids made a bouquet from all the flowers.  This was a beautiful, personal touch.  Jamie and the boys played golf in the morning and fortunately his Best Man arrived just in time for the wedding after a 41 hour flight from Istanbul!

The ceremony took place overlooking the ocean at Governor Phillip Park – this is the place where Home and Away is filmed!  Fortunately despite the cloud the day remained dry until the end of the evening.

The reception took place at The Boat House and Kiri and Jamie had left the decoration of the venue completely up to them apart from one requested pineapple!

Two days after the wedding, Barrie took Kiri and Jamie for a photoshoot around Sydney where they were able to get some incredible signature images including the iconic Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.  The images reflect the laid back, relaxed feeling of the wedding and we wish Kiri and Jamie all the love and laughter in the world and we can’t wait to see them when they come back to the UK.

About Australian

Australian is a distinctive wedding venue that brings its own character to the day. Every venue shapes the photography in its own way, and part of my approach is to work with whatever the building and the grounds offer rather than against them.

Every wedding venue shapes the photography in its own way, and part of my approach is to work with what each venue offers rather than against it. I scout the best light before the day starts, plan around the building’s architecture and move through the day as the couple does.
