Syon Park Wedding Photographer
Weddings at Syon House and the Great Conservatory, photographed quietly by someone who has worked on the estate for years.
Syon Park is twenty minutes from Heathrow and doesn't feel like London at all.
Two hundred acres of Capability Brown parkland, a house the Percy family has lived in since 1594, and a glasshouse from 1826 that most couples book the venue for before they've properly looked at anything else.
Years of weddings on the estate
Which room does what, where the light is worth planning the day around, and what to ask the venue before you sign anything.
I've photographed weddings here for years, a good many of them large Asian and Indian weddings. It's still the venue I'd put near the top of the list for anyone who wants proper parkland without leaving London.
On the day I work quietly. Two cameras, one wide for context and one long for the reactions people don't know they're giving. Fifteen or twenty minutes of portraits at a time that suits you, and documentary the rest of the day. That's how I photograph weddings across London.

The house, the glasshouse and the grounds are close together. No cars, no lost half hour, no convoy to a field down the road.
Glass, light and 1826
Charles Fowler built it to show off plants. Light comes in from every side and from above, so there are no dark corners. It seats 160 and is used for evening events from April to mid-October.

The Great Hall is pale stone and statuary under a very high ceiling, 110 for dinner. The Long Gallery runs the length of the building and is a gift for a portrait with depth in it.
Syon handles them properly
The drive gives a baraat room to arrive, the Conservatory takes a mandap without the room fighting it, large guest lists are normal, and the team are used to multi-event days.
The Clementine and Syon Woods Lawn. A smaller glasshouse with Georgian arched windows, available May to September, with four acres of private lawn beside it. Worth asking about if you want glasshouse light and an outdoor reception without taking on the Great Conservatory.
The small things, photographed properly
Rings, flowers, the shoes, the tables before anyone sits down. Most couples get ready at the Hilton on the estate, and I photograph the details there in window light while hair and make-up finish.

Where to take portraits at Syon
One of very few London venues where you can walk straight out of dinner into open parkland at sunset.
- The Long GalleryNarrow and long, with the depth that makes a portrait. Check what's permitted where, as flash indoors is often restricted.
- The Rose Garden and the lakeOld trees and long views. Capability Brown laid the park out in the 1760s, and nothing in it is accidental.
- Golden hour in the parkIn summer, around half eight or nine. Ten minutes out at that point gives you the best photographs of the day. Plan for it, don't hope for it.
- The Conservatory late onMidday is bright and flat. Late afternoon it goes warm and directional, so a later ceremony is better if you have the choice.
How a Syon Park wedding usually runs
Every wedding is different, but most days here follow a similar shape. This is roughly how it goes from where I'm standing.
Morning, at the Hilton
Most couples get ready at the hotel on the estate, a few minutes' walk from the ceremony rather than an hour up the A4.
Arrivals and the ceremony
The drive suits a grand arrival or a baraat. For the ceremony I stay out of the aisle and work from the sides.
Drinks and portraits
Drinks in the Inner Courtyard or on the lawn. Fifteen minutes for the two of you, and family groups from a list you send beforehand.
Dinner and the evening
Speeches on a longer lens, then out into the park for ten minutes at sunset if the season allows, then the dance floor.

Syon Park wedding questions
Is Syon Park licensed for civil ceremonies?
Yes. Syon House is licensed, so the ceremony and the rest of the day can happen in the same place. Confirm which room your licence covers when you book, because it affects the timings.
How many guests can Syon Park take?
The Great Conservatory seats 160, or 200 standing. The Great Hall takes 110 for dinner and 150 standing, and the State Dining Room 80 for dinner. Larger guest lists are usually built around the Conservatory.
Is the Great Conservatory available all year?
It's used for evening events between April and mid-October. Outside that window the house carries the day, which photographs perfectly well. You'll just be indoors more.
Is Syon Park good for Indian and Asian weddings?
It's one of the best in London for it. The approach suits a baraat, the Conservatory takes a mandap without the room fighting it, and the team are used to multi-day and multi-event celebrations.
What ceremony time gives the best photos?
Later in the afternoon, if you have the choice. The Conservatory light goes warm and directional as the day goes on, and a later ceremony puts your portraits closer to sunset in the park.
How far is Syon Park from Heathrow and central London?
Roughly twenty minutes from Heathrow by road, and about half an hour from Waterloo by train to Syon Lane, then a fifteen-minute walk.
How much does a Syon Park wedding photographer cost?
My collections are £1,350 for five hours, £1,800 for eight and £2,200 for eleven, with every image edited. Galleries come back within 24 hours for smaller weddings and within a week for a full day. A second photographer is an optional £1,250.
