I've photographed more than 60 register office weddings in London: over 30 at Old Marylebone Town Hall, over 20 at Chelsea Old Town Hall and over 10 at Islington Town Hall.

A register office ceremony takes twenty to thirty minutes, so I don't sell it as a full day. You book me by the hour and pay for the time you need: £350 for one hour, £550 for two, £750 for three. Every image is edited, and your gallery is online within 24 hours.

Altogether I've photographed over 500 weddings in twenty years. The register office ones are some of my favourites. No production, just the ceremony, the steps and the people who matter.

The £350 hour

What one hour covers

Most register office couples book one or two hours. This is how a typical hour goes.

  • Arrival on the stepsI'm there before you. Guests gathering outside, the two of you arriving, the last few minutes before you go in.
  • The ceremony · 20 to 30 minutesThe registrar, the vows, the rings and the signing. I photograph it as it happens and never ask you to do anything twice.
  • The steps and confettiOut through the doors and onto the front steps. Give the confetti to the people who will actually throw it.
  • Family groupsQuick and painless. Fifteen minutes at most. I line everyone up, you just stand there.
  • Portraits nearbyA short set of the two of you around the building or the street behind it, and you're back with your guests.

With two hours there's time for a proper portrait walk. With three, I can follow you to lunch or drinks and stay for the first toast.

Hourly wedding photography in London

Booked by the hour, which is what a register office wedding needs. Because the ceremony is short, I can sometimes photograph more than one wedding at the same venue on the same day. I get around by train and tube, so there's no parking or taxi bill to pass on.

Good to know

Register office wedding questions

How many register office weddings have you photographed in London?

More than 60: over 30 at Old Marylebone Town Hall (Westminster Register Office), over 20 at Chelsea Old Town Hall and over 10 at Islington Town Hall. I've photographed over 500 weddings in twenty years altogether. Hourly coverage starts at £350, and your gallery is online within 24 hours.

Can I book a wedding photographer by the hour?

Yes. One hour is £350, two hours £550 and three hours £750. Most register office couples book one or two hours. Every booking includes all images edited, an online gallery within 24 hours, high-resolution downloads and a shareable link.

How quickly will we get our photos?

Within 24 hours for weddings of up to five hours, which covers every hourly booking. A full day takes up to a week. Every image is edited, and everything comes in a private online gallery you can share with family and guests.

Is one hour enough for a register office wedding?

For most, yes. The ceremony takes twenty to thirty minutes, so one hour covers your arrival on the steps, the ceremony and the signing, the confetti, the group shots and a short set of portraits nearby. If you want a proper portrait walk, or the start of lunch or drinks, book two or three hours.

Can we add portraits somewhere else afterwards?

Yes, with two or three hours. Regent's Park is five minutes on foot from Old Marylebone Town Hall, St Luke's Church and Gardens five minutes from Chelsea Old Town Hall, and Canonbury's squares a short walk from Islington Town Hall. With three hours there's time for a cab to Westminster, the South Bank or the Royal Albert Hall.

Do you photograph weekday ceremonies?

Yes, any day of the week I'm free. Weekday ceremonies are common at register offices, and they can often be booked at shorter notice than a Saturday. Check your date in my live diary or send me an enquiry.

What if the register office is running late?

In my experience the registrars run a tight ship, so long delays are rare. I plan my coverage around the full possible length of the ceremony. If your day is tightly timed, book two hours rather than one so the ceremony and the steps aren't squeezed, and tell me your ceremony time when you book so I can plan around it.

Can you photograph the meal or party afterwards?

Yes. Three hours (£750) takes you from arrival into the start of your lunch or drinks and the first toast. For a longer celebration, my full-day London collections are £1,350 for five hours, £1,800 for eight and £2,200 for eleven, and half day wedding photography covers a ceremony and a long lunch.
