Southend Barns near Chichester, West Sussex is a lovely venue for a country wedding and that is where Heidi and Christian decided they wanted to have their wedding day. Heidi and Christian both got ready at the Ship Hotel in Chichester and her very proud father drove her and the bridesmaids to Southend Barns for the ceremony.
After the ceremony in the dairy barn we were fortunate enough to be blessed with a beautiful spring day for people to mingle on the lawn for champagne and canapés. I took Heidi and Christian away for 5 minutes and got some beautiful photographs around the gardens and fields surround the Barns. A delicious three course wedding breakfast was served in the beautifully restored 200 year old threshing barn followed by the speeches and then a few moments outside to photograph the setting sun and a romantic silhouette of the bride and groom at the edge of the fields.
The evenings entertainment was a live band and everyone was on the dance floor strutting their stuff to some great songs from their youth!.
Meriella and her team at Southend Barns do a wonderful job of making sure all the details are just so and the catering by field and fork is always outstanding. If you are thinking of getting married in Sussex I would highly recommend Southend Barns and its only 5 minutes from my home so we can meet up at the same time if you would like to have a venue visit and meet your photographer on the same day.

Southend Barns is a trio of converted 17th-century Sussex barns on the outskirts of Chichester. The venue has become a firm favourite for couples wanting a rustic feel without compromising on comfort — exposed beams, flagstone floors and an enclosed courtyard garden that holds the crowd through drinks and canapés.
The biggest advantage of a barn venue is the transition between indoor and outdoor through the day — ceremony inside or out, drinks in the courtyard, dinner back inside, evening dancing spilling out under fairy lights. I follow that rhythm rather than fighting it.
