Tom and Louise’s Goodwood House wedding began and ended at the Goodwood Hotel. Both of them got ready there, the ceremony was in the Yellow Drawing Room, dinner was in the Ballroom, and carriages at midnight took everyone back to the hotel. In between there were a few rain showers, a group photograph on the steps and a tour of the House for the guests.
Getting ready at the Goodwood Hotel
Tom got ready at the hotel with his two best men, his father and his little boy, Joel. Joel was a bit shy to start with, but he soon had everyone laughing with his cheeky smile. His very cool baby Converse set off his smart pageboy outfit.
Louise and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the hotel too. Louise wore an Essense of Australia wedding dress. Then the bride and her bridesmaids made their way up to the House.
The ceremony in the Yellow Drawing Room
Tom and Louise married in the Yellow Drawing Room. The silk on the walls throws colour back into the room, so everything looks softer than it would in a white room.
On the steps between the showers
There were rain showers during the day, so the group photograph was taken in a dry spell. Everyone gathered with Tom and Louise on the steps of Goodwood House for a few moments. After that, guests were invited on a tour of the House to see the famous paintings and furniture.
Dinner in the Ballroom
After champagne and canapés, guests joined Tom and Louise for the wedding breakfast in the Ballroom. It looked amazing, with flower arrangements by Spriggs florist of Petworth. The Ballroom has red walls, chandeliers and old paintings, and it’s a room for candlelight rather than daylight.
Dancing until the carriages
The evening started with live music and the first dance. Then everyone joined Tom and Louise on the dance floor until carriages at midnight took them back to the Goodwood Hotel.

Planning a Goodwood House wedding from the Goodwood Hotel
- Get ready at the hotel. Most couples do, and a lot of guests stay there. The prep photos are quiet and unhurried.
- Be ready for a dry spell. On a showery day, have the group sorted and close to the steps, so the big group photograph can happen as soon as the rain stops.
- Ask about a tour of the House. A tour filled the time after the group photograph and let guests see the paintings and furniture.
- Book transport back. Carriages at midnight meant nobody had to think about getting back to the hotel.
