St James’s runs from Piccadilly down to The Mall. The Ritz is at the top, Green Park and St James’s Park are on two sides, and Buckingham Palace is at the bottom. It’s a small area, and you can walk a wedding party round it in half an hour.
The Ritz
Most of my weddings in St James’s are at The Ritz. I’ve photographed ten there, from small civil ceremonies to Indian weddings with a few hundred guests.
It’s one of the easiest hotels in London to photograph well. The white and gold walls bounce the light around, and the windows give soft, even light for portraits away from the guests. Even the back staircase is worth ten minutes.

Raj and Shermila married at The Ritz with a civil ceremony and a wedding breakfast, then took a cab down to Westminster Bridge to catch the sun going down behind Big Ben. It’s ten minutes each way, and they were back with their guests before anyone missed them. Read Raj and Shermila’s Ritz wedding, or see Indian weddings at The Ritz.
The rooms, timings and prices are on my Ritz London wedding photographer page.
Green Park, the palace and The Mall
From The Ritz you can walk straight into Green Park and down to Buckingham Palace in about ten minutes. Tourists will stop and take pictures of you on the way. Most couples enjoy that more than they expect to. St James’s Park is at the end of The Mall, with the lake and the view back towards the palace.
Green Park and St James’s Park are both Royal Parks, so a wedding party in bridal wear needs a photography permit. I can sort that out for you.

Westminster and Mayfair are close
Westminster Bridge, Parliament and the river are ten minutes by cab. There’s more on that on my Westminster wedding photographer page. Mayfair, on the other side of Piccadilly, is on my Mayfair wedding photographer page.
Prices
St James’s weddings are priced the same as the rest of my London work: £1,350 for five hours, £1,800 for eight and £2,200 for eleven, with register office ceremonies from £350. Every image is edited, and smaller weddings get their full gallery within 24 hours. Full details are on my London wedding photography prices page.
