The Ritz London wedding photographer
Ten weddings at The Ritz, and twenty years of London ones — the Palm Court, the Green Park–facing suites, and the walk through the park to Buckingham Palace.
The Ritz is one of the few luxury London hotels where the building has a genuine character rather than just expensive fittings — and where the best photograph of the day is often taken two hundred yards outside it, in Green Park. I’ve photographed ten weddings at The Ritz.

What The Ritz is like to photograph in
It opened in 1906 and the interiors are Louis XVI — gilt, mirrors, chandeliers, a lot of gold. That has consequences. Gold reflects warm light onto skin, which is flattering; mirrors reflect me, which is not. Most of the work in a room like the Palm Court is about where you stand relative to the glass.
Several of the event rooms have high ceilings and genuinely good daylight, with three of them looking out over Green Park. That’s unusual for a grand London hotel, where the best rooms are often interior and windowless — a daytime ceremony here doesn’t have to be lit artificially.
Exact ceremony and dining capacities change, and I’ve seen conflicting numbers published. Confirm with the hotel’s wedding team rather than trusting any figure on a photographer’s website, including mine.
Outside
Green Park, and the walk to Buckingham Palace
This is the part most couples don’t plan for and end up glad of. Green Park is directly across Piccadilly, and the walk through it comes out at Buckingham Palace. Twenty minutes gets you relaxed portraits under the trees on the way, then the palace behind you at the end. From the same spot you can shoot back up the Mall, or across towards Westminster.
It only works if the timeline allows it. If you want it, tell me early and we’ll build it in — trying to improvise it between the ceremony and the receiving line does not work.
Asian & fusion weddings
Weddings at The Ritz with larger families
A good proportion of the weddings I’ve photographed here have been Asian or fusion celebrations, and they ask different things of a photographer. Longer days, sometimes across more than one date. Large family groups that need organising quickly and without irritating anybody. And strong colour — reds, golds, heavy embroidery — which needs handling carefully under warm tungsten light, or it goes orange. None of that is difficult if you’ve done it before. It’s a problem if you haven’t. How I work
Editorial for the portraits, documentary for the day
I don’t run a shot list through the day or stop proceedings for group photographs beyond the fifteen minutes it takes to do them properly. You shouldn’t notice I’m there for most of the day, and you shouldn’t be posing for me. There’s more of my work as a London wedding photographer on the home page.

Before you book
How many weddings have you photographed at The Ritz?
Ten. I know the Palm Court, the Marie Antoinette Suite, the William Kent Room, the Long Gallery and the Rivoli Bar well. My London collections start at £1,350, and your gallery arrives within 24 hours for a wedding of up to five hours, and within a week for a full day.
Can we photograph in the Palm Court?
Usually, but it depends on service times — it’s a working restaurant and afternoon tea is busy. Worth agreeing in advance with the events team.
How long do we need for the Green Park walk?
Twenty-five minutes door to door if you want the palace in the background. Fifteen if you just want the park.
Do you bring a second photographer?
For a large wedding, yes, and I’d recommend it here — the hotel spreads over several floors and guests scatter during drinks.
How quickly do we get the photographs?
Your full edited gallery within 24 hours for a smaller wedding, and within a week for a full day.
